To maintain the efficiency of refrigerators or freezers

By: ALEN LEW

To maintain the efficiency of your freezer it is necessary to avoid building up of ice. The increasing of ice blocks will reduce the efficiency of your freezer. To prevent the formation of ice follow defrosting. It will be better if defrosting is done in every 3 to 4 months. The gasket of the freezer should be kept clean. It must be cleaned with the help of baking soda and also along with warm water. Always observe the fitting of the gasket. If it is necessary then replace it with a new gasket. The coils that are present on the back of the refrigerators must be cleaned with baking soda. The cleaning must be done with hot water but not cold water. It will be better if the coils are cleaned in every 3 to 4 months.

To prevent the formation of the ice defrost must be done. There are some rules to perform defrosting. Firstly is that the content of the freezer must be cleared and keep the food into the cooler. To perform better defrosting by the freezer it is better to break off the large particles of ice and make it into small pieces. For a freezer it is quite easy to defrost if the ice is present in small size. Next hot water is needed and put it in a pot. Now this boiling water will be placed inside the freeze and the door of the freeze should be kept close. The advantage of this mechanism is that the heat that is coming out from the pot will defrost the ice and very quickly. Now another pot is needed to keep hot water. Keep the first pot inside the refrigerator for about 10 minutes and then keep the second pot inside the freezer after removing the first one. This process must be going on for couple of minutes and change the pot after every ten minutes. Thus it will help the freezer to defrost as quickly as possible. Continue the above process until the freezer completely defrosts. Now when the freezer completely defrosts open the door of the freezer but do not open until it defrosts completely. After this by using towel soak the water that comes after the melting of ice.

But there are some that are needed to keep in mind. When food is placed into the cooler it is necessary to keep the food at the bottom of the cooler as the cold air flows in the downward direction. Another thing should be kept in mind is that water should be removed as early as possible other wise it will mess up the floor.

Another way to keep refrigerator clean is that drawers and shelves of it must be cleaned regularly. So to do this all the drawers and shelves that are removable must be taken out from the refrigerator. If the drawers and shelves are made up of metal or it is of plastic then it can be leaned with hot water with dish soap. But if they are made up of glass then before cleaning it with hot water keep it outside to level their temperature with the room temperature. By doing these breaking or cracking can be prevented.
