Garage Door Insulation Saves Money and Energy

By: Thomas Denton

Many homeowners don't realize just how vulnerable their homes are to quite a costly problem: the loss of heating and air-conditioning. As the air outside heats or cools, your home's climate control system has to work harder and harder as conditions in the outside world get more and more extreme. What keeps this from being a completely losing battle is your home's insulation. Most home owners are well aware that their walls and windows are reinforced with temperature stabilizing insulation, but many are unaware that even with these precautions their home is still quite vulnerable to the loss of heat or cold.

Many people don't realize this, but homes that have the added convenience of an attached garage are the most vulnerable to this potentially costly problem. You may be asking yourself "But I have an insulated door separating the garage from the rest of the house, how could I still be vulnerable?". This is a very good question. The answer is cracks between the wall and the door. These cracks act as a highway for hot and cold air to leave your house, and go into your garage.
So, how do you keep your money from, quite literally, flying out the door? The answer is simple, garage door insulation! The simple act of insulating your garage door can save you hundreds of dollars over time, more than making up for the initial cost and labor.

And that is not all. In addition to the money you toss away with your improperly insulated garage, you may get a few new friends if you don't go all the way and take care of your garage door threshold and weatherstripping as well. Those gaps under the door, and around the edge are an open invitation to mice, bugs, birds and worse. Especially if you are using your garage a real garage – that is, a place to work on your car, or as a playroom for the kids, this is really important.

Now you may be asking yourself another question, "But insulation requires hiring professional help right? That'll cost a load!". This is simply not the case! There are a number of ready made, garage door insulation kits on the market today, one of which is the Falcon Foam Garage Door Insulation Kit.

This particular kit comes with everything you need to get the job done, all you need to do is supply a couple tools. While the cost may put some people off, it's well worth the money. Installing insulation with this kit is as easy as cutting the panels to size, and applying them to the garage door!

Beyond the obvious advantages of having your garage door insulated against heat and cold, there's the added advantage of noise reduction. There are more than a few reports from satisfied falcon Foam customers of a substantial reduction in outside noise when inside their garage, and even in the home! These two factors make the Falcon Foam Garage Door Insulation Kit a superior choice when thinking of insulating your garage door or doors.
