By: Eric J. Slarkowski

Are you considering shades for your windows and decorating needs? One style to consider would be that of Roman shades. These are an intricate type of shade that can be lowered as needed to allow or not allow as much light as is needed. These are made out of fabric and can be used as the centerpiece of the room. Have the focal point be on the window and then you will be able to design the room around this hanging fabric in order to meet all of your decorating needs. It odes need to stop with the window however. You can go and add on different things top accent your shade as well. Possibly, by putting wall hangings or pictures around the room you can tie the color of the shade into the entire room. You can also consider your paint scheme or other design features of the room to make the most of what you start with and be able to tie all of the aspects together.

Also consider the theme that you will be looking to create in your home as well. Do you wan to use this type of shade throughout your home or are you looking to only use it in one room and then create each room with its own individual window treatment as a theme. Consider your resources and window size. Look at what is out there and what you want to accomplish with the treatments that you will be applying to your windows. Look at the various fabrics as well as the textures that you can use to create the mood and feeling for the room to work out the way that you envisioned.

Consider your installation options for this project as well. Do you want to do it all yourself or are you looking to have it all done by someone. Are you looking to do your whole house or are you just redoing one room. The biggest bridge in most cases will be the money aspect that you will be dealing with. Look to make how much you want to accomplish with this project. Will it grow? Will you be happy? Is it a project that is just to increase value or are you looking long term? All of these things need to be considered as well as other things to make your project a success and complete to what you want.
